 SoundofManyWaters News June 2025

Remarkably, SoundofManyWaters has now received over 3,000 views! Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to look at my poems. I hope you have enjoyed them and found them stimulating and inspiring. Although most of you are from the UK, over a thousand come from the USA, Canada and Singapore, with a large number of other countries also represented. I feel deeply humbled.

There are now 40 posts on SoMW, which may make it hard to navigate the blog, find your favourites, or sort out the best poems from the ones that work less well for you. I personally feel disappointed that the posts appear just in date order, leaving some of what I like to think are really good poems way down the list where many potential readers may not look. I hope you will persevere in the belief that there may be gems to be mined deeper down.

Two other less than perfect features of the blog are first that the poems appear at first sight as prose. At least one friend of mine was put off by this stylistic aberration! It’s only when you click on the Read More button that their true form is revealed. The second issue is that when you come out of the individual poem you are always taken back to the very first one at the top of the list: not a problem while you are on page one, not too bad on page two, but by the time you get down to post number 30 plus, really rather tiresome.

There are probably fixes for these issues, and if anyone can advise me I’d be really grateful. In the meantime, I just hope you will find sufficient joy and beauty here to keep you wanting to see more…

If asked for my own top five favourites, I would probably pick A Rose Garden, Ashburnham Woods, Living Water, Mielahti and Remembrance. These are not representative as they are all reflections on living as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I do think my poems on other subjects are equally valid and just as much a celebration of the life and beauty which are close to the heart of the poet’s calling. And one or two are just supposed to be amusing, I hope they work for you.

Finally you may wish to know that this is not my only blog. I also do a book review blog which you can find on https://colinsbookreviews.blogspot.com/ There’s a mix of novels, classics, history, theology, science and so on there.

Happy reading! Colin.
